This money can go a long way to helping you accomplish your missions.
Read the requirements carefully so you don’t waste your time and theirs applying for a grant you won’t qualify for.
Tesco Community Grants support thousands of local community projects and good causes across the UK.
The scheme is open to all schools, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations, with priority given to projects that provide food and support to young people.
Eligibility: Tesco Community Grants is open to charities and community organisations
Funding activity: Tesco Community Grants is getting schools who lack funds and resources, to apply for extra financial help they might need to provide healthy food and activities that boost young people’s mental and physical wellbeing.
Grant range: up to £1,500
National Lottery – Awards for All
We’re here to support communities with the things that are important to them, including helping with the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.
You can apply for funding to deliver a new or existing activity or to support your organisation to change and adapt to new and future challenges.
Eligibility:
You can apply if your organisation is a:
- constituted voluntary or community organisation
- constituted group or club
- registered charity
- charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
- not-for-profit company
- community interest company (CIC)
- school (as long as your project benefits and involves the communities around the school)
- statutory body (including local authorities, town, parish and community council)
Funding activity:
- bring people together to build strong relationships in and across communities
- improve the places and spaces that matter to communities
- help more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage
- support people, communities and organisations facing more demands and challenges because of the cost-of-living crisis.
Grant range: £300 to £10,000, for up to one year
Delamere Dairy Ltd has been instrumental in the concept and thinking behind the Delamere Dairy Foundation and is proud of the association and the support it can provide. Delamere Dairy’s sustainable approach to business, its ethics, values and vision inspired the concept of the Corporate Foundation, driven by a desire to ‘do the right thing’, now and in the long term, by giving back to the communities in which it operates.
Eligibility: Grant applications are welcome from groups or organisations that are “not for profit”; such as charities, community groups and social enterprises, that can demonstrate a clear community benefit in their constitution or governing document.
Funding activity: The purpose of the grant application must fit with the objects of the Delamere Dairy Foundation and be for the benefit of the public, namely:
1. The advancement of agriculture and of environmental protection
2. The advancement in life of young people by developing their capabilities so that they may mature as contributory members of society
3. The relief of financial hardship
4. The advancement of education
5. The relief of sickness
Grant range: from £250 to £5,000
Sports England – Small Grants Programme
Our Small Grants Programme seeks to develop opportunities for communities to get more people physically active and we’ll support new projects through providing National Lottery funding of between £300 and £15,000.
Eligibility: Eligible types of organisations are:
- a community amateur sports club (as registered with HMRC)
- an unregistered voluntary and community organisation with a not-for-profit constitution
- a registered charity
- a not-for-profit company (limited by guarantee without share capital or charitable incorporated organisation)
- a community interest company (CIC) or other social enterprise
- community benefit society
- a school using their facilities for wider community benefit.
- local authority bodies (including town, parish and community councils).
Funding activity:
- Coaching – providing opportunities for those less likely to be active, offering them an activity they want to participate in.
- Volunteer training – develop your organisation’s volunteer base through offering training to both new and existing volunteers.
- Service alterations – providing new ways of delivering your existing activity to attract new participants/members, for example offering outreach or web-based classes or targeting new audiences through connecting with other providers in your locality.
- Additional equipment – to enable expansion of activity or safer delivery of activity, for example a defibrillator and associated costs (such as training for its use) as part of a wider project to deliver sport and physical activity.
- Minor facility alterations – examples include adapting a community space to make it more accessible for those with mobility impairments, refurbishing a space to enable sport and physical activity to be offered or improving a space to make it more energy efficient. Please note, you must have, or provide confirmation that you don’t need, the relevant planning permission/building control consent and/or landlord approval. Your application will not be successful unless you include this information in your application.
Grant range: £300 and £15,000
Eligibility:
In this programme, we will fund small charities and charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs). The below covers the basic eligibility criteria to apply for funding under this programme. You can also complete a quick eligibility quiz to easily check to see if you meet these requirements.
- Be based and working in England and Wales. Most of your charity’s time and money is spent on activities in England and/or Wales and helping people living in England and/or Wales.
- Be registered as a charity with the Charity Commission. We will ask for your charity registration number at the start of your application.
- Be led by and working for the communities you support. By this, we mean that at least 75% of your trustees and at least 50% of staff self-identify as d/Deaf or Disabled.
- Have at least one set of annual accounts showing as ‘received’ on the Charity Commission website, covering a twelve-month period.

Funding activity: Your charity must deliver a range of services supporting people in a structured way over the longer term. This will include advice and/or advocacy, such as access to accommodation/housing support, welfare and benefits advice and advocacy, debt support, access to healthcare, and access to legal and employment rights advice.
Grant range: between £25,000 to £500,000
The Hargreaves Foundation is a grant-making charitable foundation set up in 2020 by Peter Hargreaves and his family. Applications are open for organisations seeking funding to support those under the age of 18, and living with a mental health problem, physical disability or growing up in poverty through the mediums of sport and education.
It is the intention of the Trustees to distribute the annual income available to The Foundation, likely to be in the region of £2,000,000 per annum.
Applications will reopen August 1.
Eligibility:
We will consider applications from the following:
✓ Registered Charities or Charitable Incorporated Organisations
✓ Schools and Further Education Colleges (usually exempt charities)
✓ NHS Trusts
Organisations must have:
✓ At least one set of published accounts at the point of applying
✓ A bank account in the organisation’s name with at least two
unconnected signatories
✓ (for charities) At least 3 unconnected Trustees
Funding activity: Grants will only be allocated to fund defined projects, initiatives or the purchase of specific items and wherever possible payments will be made directly to suppliers.
In addition, requests must address one or more of the following priorities:
• Enables individuals to experience the mental and physical health benefits
of participatory sport
• Ensures participatory sport is accessible (accessibility includes affordability)
• Provides sporting or educational activities that foster life skills
• Aims to improve academic engagement and attainment
• Encourages the development of skills and personal attributes to aid
future employability
Grant range: No minimum or maximum
