In our effort to support CICs and charities, we’ve gathered another round of grants that are open right now.
Private companies and government agencies want to help you accomplish your mission, so apply for these grants. Hopefully, you’ll find the funding to keep up your good work.
Ford Britain Trust
Ford Motor Company is dedicated to supporting the localities where they reside and operate.
This dedication led to the establishment of the Ford Britain Trust. Since its inception in April 1975, they have been able to facilitate the educational growth and progress of the people living in their surrounding areas.
Eligibility: State and special schools, nonprofits working with people with special needs, youth organisations, and environmental non-profits.
Funding Activity: They pay special attention to projects focusing on education, the environment, children, the disabled, youth activities, and projects that provide clear benefits to the local communities close to our UK locations. The Ford Britain Trust particularly encourages applications supported by Ford employees, but is open to all, provided that the qualifying organisations meet our selection criteria.

Grant Range: Small grants for amounts up to £250.
Large grants for amounts over £250 and up to a maximum of £3000
National Lottery Awards for All England
The National Lottery supports communities with the things that are important to them, including helping with the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.
One can apply for funding to deliver a new or existing activity or to support your organisation’s ability to change and adapt to new and future challenges.
Eligibility:
You can apply if your organisation is a:
- constituted voluntary or community organisation
- constituted group or club
- registered charity
- charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
- not-for-profit company
- community interest company (CIC)
- school (as long as your project benefits and involves the communities around the school)
- statutory body (including local authorities, town, parish and community councils)
Funding activity:
- bring people together to build strong relationships in and across communities
- improve the places and spaces that matter to communities
- help more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage
- support people, communities and organisations facing more demands and challenges because of the cost-of-living crisis.

Grant range: £300 to £10,000, for up to one year
The Clothworkers’ Foundation
The Clothworkers’ Foundation’s Open Grants Programme accepts applications from UK registered charities or not-for-profits that meet their eligibility criteria, for funding towards capital projects.

Funding Activity: Grants are awarded towards capital projects, which they define as:
- Buildings: purchase, construction, renovation or refurbishment.
- Fittings, Fixtures, and Equipment: this includes but is not limited to office equipment/furniture, sports/gym equipment, digital/audio visual equipment, software and websites (more guidance on digital infrastructure can be found here), garden equipment, specialist therapeutic (excluding medical) equipment. It does not include equipment for one-off use, or which will be given to service users for personal use on a permanent basis.
- Vehicles: This includes a minibus, car, caravan, people-carrier, or 4X4. We are unlikely to fund the total cost of a new vehicle and do not provide grants for vehicle leasing.

Matthew Good Foundation
Every three months, we’ll share £15,000 between five shortlisted projects that have a positive impact on communities, people, or the environment.
Since 2011, the Matthew Good Foundation has empowered employees of the John Good Group to support many good causes in the UK and around the world by nominating good causes for funding. However, in 2021, our tenth year, we wanted to extend our impact and allow small charities, community projects, and social entrepreneurs to come straight to us.
Eligibility:
Your application must be on behalf of a local community group, charity, voluntary group, or social enterprise that has a positive impact on communities, people, or the environment and has an average income of less than £50,000 in the last 12 months.
Funding Activity:
To stay true to our ethos of donating funds to causes close to the hearts of our members, every three months, five shortlisted projects will be voted for by John Good Group employees.
Grant Range:
These five charities will all receive a share of £15,000 – the more votes a cause receives, the bigger the donation. Following the vote, the project that receives the most votes will receive a grant of £5,000, second place £3,500, third place £2,500 and fourth and fifth place will both receive £2,000.

City Bridge Trust
We want to support mental health services for people experiencing disadvantage and inequality in the Greater London area.
Eligibility:
They only fund services delivered by accredited and qualified practitioners, for example, with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Funding Activity:
Funding is available for mental health services and associated running costs. They fund psychotherapy, counselling, and talking therapies delivered in community settings.
We particularly welcome applications that support:
- racialized communities including migrants, people seeking asylum and refugees
- Deaf and disabled people including those with long-term mental health conditions
- people experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- people leaving prison or at the end of community sentences
- people identifying as LGBTQ+
- people aged 65+ who are disadvantaged
- people aged under 25 who are disadvantaged
- survivors of abuse, exploitation, and hatred

Grant Range:
There is no minimum or maximum limit to how much they give, however they never give revenue funding exceeding 50% of the applicants turnover/income in any one year
Severn Trent Community Fund
Eligibility:
You can apply for a grant if your organisation is not for profit and you have a governing document.
Applications can be made by organisations including:
- Local Authority or Parish Council
- Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) or foundation CIO
- Registered Company (limited by guarantee) or Community Interest Company
- Registered Charity
- Volunteer or community group
- Foundation school, college or academy
The proposed project must be located in the Severn Trent region, and the community it is benefiting must be Severn Trent customers.
Funding Activity:
The criteria they use to assess your application
- Community need – What is the need for this project in the community and have the community been involved in the planning?
- Planning – Is the project planned well and have a sufficient budget breakdown?
- Sustainability – Will the project be sustained and bring benefit beyond the investment period?
- Value for money – Does the project seem like good value for money in comparison to similar projects?
Grant Range:
There are three sizes of grant that you can apply for:
£2,000 to £10,000
£10,001 to £75,000
£75,001 to £200,000
To apply for more than £10,000 you must be a registered charity or a business registered with Companies House, a local authority or parish council.
To apply for more than £75,000, your project must have a considerable link all three of our wellbeing themes: People, Place and Environment.
