The Prince Philip Trust Fund

The Prince Philip Trust Fund

The Prince Philip Trust Fund aims to make a genuine difference in the quality of life in communities across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Since 1977, the fund has supported causes by awarding nearly £2 million to more than 1,600 groups.

What They Fund

The trust funds activities to support sports and wellness as well as children and young people. It also funds causes that support the elderly as well as artistic and literal pursuits.

Criteria and Eligibility

The Prince Philip Trust Fund supports one-off projects. Your project must make a demonstrable difference in the lives of people in the borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

However, the fund makes some exceptions in this regard if your nonprofit organisation helps a reasonable number of people outside of the traditional coverage area. In either case, applicants must provide some proof of sustainability or past fundraising success.

How Much Can You Apply For?

There’s no minimum or maximum grant amount for the Prince Philip Trust Fund. Historically, however, most grants range between £250 and £5,000.

How to Apply For a Grant

First, you must pass the eligibility test provided on the Prince Philip Trust Fund website. In part, you must show how your project will make a difference for your constituents.

If your group is eligible, you must apply for a grant on the website before the 1 March or 1 October deadline to qualify for the next round of funding.

The Rowing Foundation

The Rowing Foundation supports youth under 18 or those who are still full-time learners in the sport of rowing. The foundation also supports disabled individuals in the sport no matter their age.

What They Fund

The foundation traditionally funds grants for use for rowing equipment. It funds groups whose needs are too small for the National Lottery or like funding sources.

It targets its funding specifically for youth and disabled individuals of all ages. The fund covers up to 50% of expenses.

Criteria and Eligibility

Applicants must provide details about why their organisation needs rowing equipment. They must also detail how they will raise the remaining 50% of expenses for their rowing program.

How Much Can You Apply For?

You can apply for grants of up to £500 to £3,000. However, you cannot apply for more than 50% of the overall cost of your rowing project.

How to Apply For a Grant

The Rowing Foundation will provide you with an online application on their website. You’ll receive a completed, printable application via email after your submission. Remember, you want to file the application as fully as possible.

The Childwick Trust

The Childwick Trust 

The Childwick Trust has distributed more than £70 million to local and national charities since the passing of the principal of the Childwickbury Estate, Jim Joel. In part, the trust honours his family’s extensive business dealings in South Africa since the 1880s. It also supports other causes.

What They Fund

The trust funds initiatives reflect the four primary interests of Jim Joel. Those interests include health, horse racing, Jewish charities and South African education.

Criteria and Eligibility 

The fund restricts awards to groups originating in the south and southeast of the United Kingdom. Organisations in these areas that haven’t received a donation in the previous two years can apply.

How Much Can You Apply For?

The awards that the Childwick Trust distributes varies. In 2020, the trust distributed £2,986,972 to various groups. The grants ranged from £15,000 to £300,000.

How to Apply For a Grant

Applicants can apply for funding after 1 October 2021. The “How to apply” page provides more detailed information about the application process.

Small Grants for Education

The Small Grants for Education fund aims to stimulate interest and involvement in mathematics for children aged five years old and older. It supports undergraduate students in mathematics studies, mathematics engagement with the public and encourages unusual ways of communicating mathematics concepts.

What They Fund

The program funds activities where there are limited opportunities for alternative funding sources. If your a university-affiliated applicant, the group prefers that you apply with support from a society member. However, they’ll fund any eligible UK organisation.

Criteria and Eligibility

Applicants must make an identifiable and significant contribution that supports the program’s interests. Ideally, your program should promote engagement between various parts of the mathematics community.

How Much Can You Apply For?

The Small Grants for Education committee awards grants that range between £600 and £800. Despite the amount you request, you must request funding well before a planned event, as the committee will not award retroactive funds.

How to Apply For a Grant

Applicants can print and complete the application from the PDF provided by the Small Grants for Education website. Here, it’s important to have your application countersigned by someone who can confirm your project’s value. For example, you might ask for the support of a headteacher or senior colleague in this regard.

Bluespark Foundation

The Bluespark Foundation provides funding for projects with the goal to improve education and development for children and young people. These projects might include educational, cultural, sporting or other activities that meet this objective.

What They Fund

The foundation trustees decide whom to fund. They give consideration to projects they believe will enhance the self-confidence, team working skills and employability of children and young people.

Criteria and Eligibility

Applicants must reside in England. Also, you must request funds to support a specific project rather than operating costs or general activities. In addition, the project must benefit children between the ages of 5 and 22 years old.

How Much Can You Apply For?

Primarily, the foundation supports small-scale projects that may not take place without the help of the Bluespark Foundation. Grants are typically under £2,000, but never more than £5,000.

How to Apply For a Grant

You must apply for the grant using the foundation’s standard online application form. Also, the person leading the project must complete the application.

The Henry Smith Charity

The Henry Smith Charity aims to help communities and people in need. The organisation works to bring about positive change by funding groups that help to reduce social and economic disadvantages.

What They Fund

The charity funds small and midsized organisations in the United Kingdom. It supports the operating costs of these various organisations.

Criteria and Eligibility

The Henry Smith Charity operates six grant programmes. These programs include Christian Projects, County Grants, Holiday Grants, Improving Lives, Revenue Grants and Strengthening Communities. Awardees must agree to report regularly on their progress toward meeting their goals.

How Much Can You Apply For?

Henry Smith Charity funding varies among programmes. Funding amounts start at as little as one time awards of £500 and go as high as funding of £60,000 per year for three years.

Applicants must explore the Henry Smith Charity website to learn more about the proper grant categories. Each of the six sections provides more information about the grant process for a given fund.
